Unix System Administrator / Senior Backup - Commvault

Job Description

On behalf of our client, a private bank in the Geneva area, we are looking for a Unix System Administrator / Senior Backup specialized in Commvault.

Within the infrastructure team, you will ensure the administration of backups and storage and participate in the modernization of the environment as well as the strengthening of its cyber resilience.

The start is planned for early January, as part of a six-month Try & Hire with a perspective of a permanent contract (CDI). Participation in 24/7 on-call duties may be organized according to your availability and the needs of the team.

Main Missions

• Administer and maintain the Commvault backup solution, as well as the associated backup and storage infrastructure.
• Process requests and tickets related to backups and ensure the monitoring of daily operations.
• Supervise backups, analyze incidents, and implement the necessary corrective actions.
• Optimize performance, retention policies, and the use of backup and storage resources.
• Analyze the existing architecture and propose improvements in terms of reliability, availability, and capacity.
• Participate in the renewal of servers and storage equipment, as well as the redesign of the backup architecture.
• Contribute to the strengthening of cyber resilience and the improvement of the infrastructure's restoration and recovery capabilities.
• Perform restoration and recovery tests to verify the effectiveness of the systems in place.
• Develop and improve the automation of backup, monitoring, and restoration operations.
• Collaborate with system, infrastructure, and datacenter teams to guarantee the availability and reliability of backed-up data.

We are looking for a profile meeting the following criteria:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the administration of backups, systems, or IT infrastructures, with significant experience on Commvault.
• In-depth mastery of Commvault and its mechanisms: architecture, backup, restoration, deduplication, and retention management.
• Strong skills in Unix/Linux administration.
• Experience in the administration of storage environments, with good knowledge of SAN infrastructures.
• Ability to analyze an infrastructure as a whole and to contribute to its optimization and evolution.
• Good understanding of cyber resilience issues and restoration and recovery mechanisms.
• Skills in scripting and automation of operational tasks.
• Experience in managing incidents, requests, and performance problems related to backups.
• Analytical mindset, autonomy, rigor, and ability to work within a team.
• Professional English required.
• Experience in the banking sector is an asset.
