IP Network Engineer Real-Time Media Infrastructures 100%, Ecublens

The Operations domain assumes the central strategic steering of the technological orientation and production of the SSR. The Operations Personnel Management department guarantees, through clear roles, skill-based planning and regional monitoring by language, that employees develop in a targeted manner and are assigned appropriately. It also creates transparency in the use of resources as well as stable structures for efficient operation.

In order to strengthen its Real-Time Network (RTN) team, RTS is looking for an IP Network Engineer, Real-Time Media Infrastructures.

Your mission ####

Within the Real-Time Network (RTN) team, you design, deploy, operate and evolve the IP network infrastructures that transport audio and video flows from our production environments: radio, filmed radio and television.

You work on high-performance and highly available network architectures, based mainly on Arista equipment and on SMPTE ST 2110 standards. These infrastructures support critical production services and real-time media flows.

You also administer the Nevion VideoIPath orchestration platform, which constitutes the control-plane of the media network. In this capacity, you integrate and provision broadcast systems, configure the network services necessary for their exchanges and contribute to the evolution of the orchestration architecture.

Initially, your activity will be mainly dedicated to projects, the evolution of infrastructures and their production implementation. It will progressively integrate an increasing share of operation, support and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities

• Design, deploy and evolve IP network architectures dedicated to the transport of real-time media flows.
• Configure and administer network equipment, mainly based on Arista technologies.
• Administer and evolve the Nevion VideoIPath orchestration platform.
• Integrate and provision broadcast equipment and systems in VideoIPath.
• Implement connectivity, multicast, synchronization and redundancy services necessary for SMPTE ST 2110 environments.
• Participate in projects for the creation, renovation and migration of production infrastructures.
• Prepare production implementations and accompany the transition of new solutions to operations.
• Ensure level 2 and 3 support as well as the diagnosis of incidents affecting RTN infrastructures.
• Supervise the availability, performance and capacity of media networks.
• Contribute to the development of telemetry, automation and diagnostic tools.
• Analyze the needs of technical and production teams and propose solutions adapted to their uses.
• Document architectures, configurations and operating procedures.
• Ensure the traceability of incidents, requests and evolutions.
• Contribute to technological monitoring and continuous improvement of the team's infrastructures and practices.

Your profile ####

• Higher education in computer science, telecommunications or networks, or a deemed equivalent path.
• Proven experience in IP network engineering or operation, ideally in a critical or high-availability environment.
• Good mastery of IP network technologies (routing, switching, multicast and high availability).
• Good understanding of Linux environments and network administration tools.
• Ability to analyze user needs and propose adapted solutions.
• Interest in media infrastructures, real-time systems and new technologies.
• Analytical spirit, autonomy, rigor and sense of priorities.
• Ease in teamwork and collaboration with specialists from different fields.
• Good communication skills and technical documentation writing skills.
• Mastery of English, German is also desired.

Constitute assets

• Experience with Arista EOS and CloudVision environments.
• Practice of BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, MLAG or comparable technologies.
• Knowledge of SMPTE ST 2110 infrastructures.
• Knowledge of PTP (ST 2059) and ST 2022-7.
• Experience with Nevion VideoIPath or a similar orchestration platform.
• Knowledge of NMOS standards.
• Experience of a radio or television production environment.
• Skills in automation, scripting or API (Python, Bash, REST).
