L'École Internationale de Lausanne (ISL) is a leading non-profit International Baccalaureate school in French-speaking Switzerland. Primary Music Teacher (60%)

Temporary position (maternity leave replacement) from January 2027 to December 2027

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced primary music teacher to join our team on a temporary contract. The role consists of teaching music throughout the primary school and contributing to the wider musical life of the school through performances and events.

Although the position is at 60%, teaching and related responsibilities will likely be spread over four days per week.

Desired qualifications and qualities:

• A recognized qualification in music teaching at bachelor's or postgraduate level;
• Ideally three years of successful experience teaching music in primary school;
• Knowledge of and commitment to the educational philosophies of the International Baccalaureate Primary Programme;
• Ability to play and teach various instruments, including piano, would be an advantage;
• Ability to use various pedagogical methods and resources (e.g., Orff, Kodály) to create a fun and enjoyable learning environment that inspires children to develop a love for music;
• Ability to successfully organize and lead various musical events;
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with students, colleagues, and parents;
• Understanding and sensitivity to cultural diversity;
• Adaptability, flexibility, dynamism, and a sense of humor;
• Comfortable with high expectations of students, colleagues, and a professional parent community;
• Excellent ICT skills and knowledge of their effective use to support pedagogy;
• Commitment to self-reflection and professional development;
• Full proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
