Job Description ##

In your capacity as an educator within the establishment for minors and young adults "Les Léchaires", you participate in the two missions assigned to the penitentiary service: ensuring the supervision and monitoring of detained persons and, more specifically, the mission of reintegration and prevention of recidivism for minors and young adults.

You are an integral part of the development of the identity of a dynamic institution and evolve within a multidisciplinary team. You guarantee a structured and reassuring living context for the detained persons and ensure their physical, moral, and emotional integrity. You act at all times in respect of our values: "Loyalty, Solidarity, Credibility".

Responsibilities ##

• Guarantee a structured and reassuring living context for detained minors and young adults, mainly in the cell living units, by ensuring in particular their physical, moral, and emotional integrity.
• Implement individual socio-educational intervention strategies.
• Contribute actively to the organization of the daily functioning of the cell living units.
• Elaborate and write different reports, assessments, or recommendations on an educational level as requested by the management or the Penal Authority.
• Organize individual or collective activities that meet both the interests of the detained persons and socio-educational objectives.

Qualifications ##

• Holder of a diploma from a higher education school (ES) in social education, childhood education, socio-professional instructor, community animation, or a specialized university of applied sciences (HES) in social work, or similar.
• Holders of a diploma from an ES or an HES in nursing with at least six months of professional experience as an educator in an educational establishment, child psychiatry, or a care facility, or similar.
• Experience with minors in a child psychiatry setting or a title of training practitioner are assets.
• Very good writing skills.
• Mastery of standard IT tools.
• Knowledge of foreign languages, an asset.
• Open-mindedness, very good communication skills, strong emotional control, and stress management.
• Ability to work in the field of assistance under constraint.
• Good mental and physical aptitudes allowing you to adapt to irregular hours and weekends.
• Sense of observation, analysis, and synthesis.

Our employment conditions require that you are Swiss or a holder of a permit C, free of certificate of no assets (an extract from the Office des poursuites must be presented during the process), and your criminal record must be clean. There is a right to consult the criminal record in application of the Federal Act on Criminal Records by the hiring authority for this function.

Our mission is twofold: to protect the population and to support the reintegration of persons into society. The SPEN manages and supervises the Office d'exécution des peines and 6 penitentiary establishments placed under its authority.
