Project Manager - Construction and development of sustainable schoolyards

Job Description ##

The Plan Climat Vaudois aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support adaptations to climate change. From January 2027, municipalities will benefit from guidance and cantonal financial support to renovate their buildings and develop their school sites in a sustainable manner. For the 93 educational establishments, the objective is to combat the phenomenon of heat islands by supporting municipalities in their projects for soil depaving, greening of outdoor spaces, installation of solar protection for buildings and in schoolyards, and rainwater harvesting.

In a context marked by strong climate challenges, you will participate in making teaching locations models of environmental exemplary behavior, promoting local biodiversity and aiming to improve the well-being of children and professional teams.

Join the Unité Organisation et Planification, a dynamic and passionate team, in order to collaborate with numerous cantonal and municipal partners for this innovative cantonal project.

Responsibilities ##

• Ensure the implementation of the subsidy granting system for municipalities and school associations within the framework of EMPD24LEG_105 for the sustainable adaptation and redevelopment of municipal school sites.
• Advise and support municipalities, school associations, and school directorates in renovation and outdoor redevelopment projects of school sites.
• Manage and coordinate projects in collaboration with partner state services concerning the development of school sites.
• Develop reference documents for school directorates, municipalities, and school associations.
• Implement tools, dashboards, and monitoring indicators for applications and subsidy accounting.

Collaboration and work organization must be established with the administrative assistant in charge of files for the program.

Qualifications ##

• Engineering degree in nature management / environmental engineering, HES/EPFL architect / HES landscape architect or a title deemed equivalent is required.
• Project management experience required.
• Additional training (CAS, MAS or title deemed equivalent) in ecology and environmental science, sustainable development, environmental education through nature) is desired.
• 3 years of professional activity related to the field of activity (architecture, landscape architecture, environmental engineering).
• Sense of responsibility and public service ethics. Capacity for adaptation and flexibility. Listening and communication skills.
• Good sense of organization and time management. Good writing skills. Analytical and synthesis skills. Sense of creativity.
• Upon request, the employee may be required to participate in seminars, conferences, or any other events outside of usual working hours (evening).
• Driver's license indispensable.
