Job Description

Are you a software engineer with solid experience in data science and data engineering, passionate about creating systems that transform large-scale data into reliable products? Do you like taking charge of the full cycle - from pipeline architecture to the models and metrics that run on them - while mentoring others? If so, we invite you to join Nexthink as a Senior Software Engineer, Data Science, within our Cloud Intelligence team!

As a key member of Cloud Intelligence, you will design and deliver the data products, pipelines, and services that fuel our data lake, our experimentation, and our analytical capabilities - contributing to shaping the digital experience of employees for millions of users worldwide. This role is engineering-focused: you will primarily bring solid software engineering judgment, combined with data science skills, to know what is worth building.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver data products - Architect, build, and deliver reliable and well-documented data products and services (from pipelines to APIs) that internal teams and external customers can rely on.
• Data lake infrastructure - Build, scale, and maintain the data lake and its underlying pipelines (e.g., with Spark), ensuring reliable data ingestion, processing, and structuring for analytical and production use.
• Applied data science - Explore large datasets to discover patterns, quantify product impact, and inform the design of the systems and metrics your team builds.
• AI/ML exploitation - Use AI to improve the development process and the quality of the software and data products delivered by your team.
• Collaboration and leadership - Work closely with data engineers, ML engineers, and product teams to align data capabilities with business needs at all levels.
• Mentoring and coaching - Guide and support junior engineers and data scientists, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• BSc/Master (or PhD) in computer science, data science, machine learning, statistics, or a related field.
• More than 5 years of hands-on experience as a software engineer on data-intensive systems, ideally with direct exposure to data science or applied ML.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals - clean architecture, testing, CI/CD - applied to data and ML workflows.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) and building/maintaining large-scale data lake infrastructures.
• Proven experience with cloud data platforms (preference for AWS).
• Proficiency in Python and standard data tools (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, SQL).
• Good data intuition: ability to inspect raw logs, design metrics, and quickly identify quality regressions.
• Knowledge of experimental design, statistical inference, and A/B testing methodology.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Enthusiasm for learning and adapting.
