Social Worker

Job Description ##

In collaboration with the other professional bodies of the establishment, you carry out the specific missions of the social sector in pre-trial detention: maintaining the relations of detained persons with the outside world, managing their personal, financial, and administrative affairs, and developing their reintegration project. You ensure the individual follow-up of detained persons and accompany them in the evolution of their sentence/measure.

You are an integral part of the development of the identity of a dynamic institution and evolve in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities ##

• Conduct individual interviews, notably at the request of detained persons, and in response to solicitations from authorities.
• Ensure the administrative follow-up of individual files, examine their administrative and financial situation, and process related requests.
• Participate in the execution plan of the criminal sanction by organizing social, institutional, and therapeutic conduct according to current regulations.
• Guide detained persons in their reflection on their actions and their life project and work to restore their self-esteem.
• Actively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders by participating in meetings and networks.
• Organize contacts with the families of detained persons and various partners related to socio-professional reintegration.

Our employment conditions require that you are Swiss or a holder of a C permit, free of any certificate of unpaid debts (an extract from the Office des poursuites must be presented during the process), and your criminal record must be clean. There is a right to consult the criminal record in application of the Federal Act on Criminal Records by the hiring authority for this function.

Qualifications ##

• Holder of a HES-SO Bachelor's in social work, an ES educator diploma, or a university degree in social sciences.
• Significant professional practice in supporting adults presenting complex life situations or paths.
• Any additional training in the fields of health, addiction, migration, or criminology is a definite asset, as is proficiency in a foreign language.
• Comfortable in a highly regulated framework and with the notion of compulsory assistance.
• Listening skills, while maintaining the distance necessary for your mission.
• Open-mindedness, good communication skills, and strong emotional control allow you to face tense situations, as well as oppositional attitudes.
• Organizational skills and perfect writing ease in French for the elaboration of reports. Good command of common IT tools.
